Chemka
A morning drive of about an hour from Moshi, partly on rough track, brings you to Kikuletwa — Chemka — where warm spring water fills a deep turquoise pool shaded by fig trees. Swimming, a picnic lunch and an unhurried afternoon, back in Moshi by early evening.

How hot is the water?
Warm rather than hot — closer to a heated swimming pool than a spa. It is spring-fed and startlingly clear, you can see the bottom, and it stays the same temperature whatever the weather is doing.
Is it busy?
At weekends and holidays, very. We go on a weekday and arrive early where we can, which usually buys you an hour with the place close to empty.
Can non-swimmers enjoy it?
Yes. There are shallow edges and the water is buoyant, and life jackets are available at the site.
